Meet Rusty Jones

Rusty Jones is a full time artist, studio painter, plein air painting enthusiast and painting instructor. He brings over twenty years workshop teaching experience to his online course. 

Of painting outdoors Rusty says "I don't find the landscape, it finds me". And once his easel is set up and the paint begins to flow Rusty's singular focus is capturing the landscape that inspires him.

What you get

1. Three video lessons per month delivered the first three Mondays each month

2. Most video lessons will tackle a particular painting challenge including seeing color, mixing and applying paint, finding the star in the landscape, values, edges, drawing, perspective, painting depth, observation, painting rocks, water, trees, old barns and clouds or anything else we decide we want to paint. Sometimes we will paint a scene just to paint with no particular lesson in mind.

3. Plein air and studio lessons. When the weather permits we will be outside painting

I'm a beginner, is this course right for me?

Absolutely, In Celebration of Nature is for ayone who wants to learn to paint and for any painter who wants to improve.

As a member can I get dritiques of my work?

Yes, there are monthly critiques available on our private Facebook page or you can send a jpeg directly to me for a private critique.

Are all painting styles welcome?

Yes, I tend to paint loosely in an impressionistic kind of way but most course material is designed for any style of painting from realistic to impressionistic

Are the videos downloadable?

No, they are only available through the website but are available 24/7 on any device.

Can I cancel my membership at any time.

Yes if you have the month-to-month payment plan. If you purchase the one time payment for a yearly subscription the first two months are free so there is no refund available if you purchase this plan.

Will I have to buy a lot of supplies?

No. I have provided a recommended supply list and i have made every effort to keep the start up cost to a minimum. I suggest starting with the limited palette then adding supplies as you see fit.

Course Introduction

Thank you for joining my In Celebration of Nature online
course, mentoring and community. In this relaxed self-paced atmosphere I hope to create a unique learning and painting experience. It is my sincere hope you find the information I share to be helpful in your art journey. 

This format provides us the opportunity to connect on a personal level and share our struggles and successes for the purpose of growing as artists. I hope to spend one-on-one time with you to address any specific areas of concern that I may not be covering in the general course material. That's what makes this format so unique and I look forward to the challenges in creates as your guide.

The private Facebook community is where we will come together and share our paintings and have open discussions about the painting experience. Its where I will share additional demos separate from the base course material and answer any questions you may have.
